Challenge: Your God is a Monster

We finished up talking about violence in the Bible this week. We talked a lot about the facts of the matter, but might not have presented an emotionally satisfying response. Many questions like this one come with a lot of emotional baggage in tow and, many times, the logical answer is not enough.

As Brett talks about in this video, we should first try to understand where the question is coming from. How are they wording the question? Are they phrasing it in a way that automatically make it terrible if you disagree with them (e.g. genocide)? We might be able to give a reasonable answer, but it is useless if we do not know how to relate to the people behind the questions.
